Bye Bye Becka's

On more than one occasion, Miles has been sad to be stuck at home all day when he would rather be playing at Miss Becka's. As a working mom, I never take that as an insult. It's a blessing.

Front:Adam, Jordan Liz, Becka and Cheryl with assorted babies we don't know.
Back: Luke, Miles, Ally, Lexi, Georgia, Peyton, Ella, Sammy, Cece, and Nate.

We are so lucky that Miles has loved going to daycare for the last five years. The VanGorps have treated him like family, even amongst all the other kids that they see every day. They have bought him things from garage sales, invited him in to eat breakfast with their family, let him come in days that he wasn't scheduled to be there... they have been awesome to us.

One of his favorite parts of daycare were his friends. His "bros" TJ and Lucas and Lukey and his "girlfriend" Peyton. Yes, this Peyton. They already have plans to get married, but not til they are 25 (by direct order from Peyton's dad). They've been talking about it for about two years now.

Nick Stoming (Petyon's dad) gives Miles "a talking to" and let's him know he'll see him in twenty years.
Miles caused quite the uproar (shocking, right?) just after this photo. He sat there chumming up with his future father in law and then reached over and KISSED Peyton! He was dubbed a player shortly after that.

Miles with Cheryl (Sher-tyl as the kids call her), Becka and Liz. The only one missing is Mr. Eric, Becka's husband.
And then there is Liz. Liz graduated from LC last year. For a while, she was a permanent fixture in my classroom. She was in my class, she was my aide, she just found ways to get out of class and come down. Becka and I joked that we were raising each other's kids. Liz is off to Bloomington in a few weeks and it was so fun getting to see her in school and at her home.

So, yesterday, at his last end of the year party as an official Becka's kid, we were all extremely happy, grateful and sad... all at the same time. Becka told me we really have a "special" kid and she was going to miss him too much. I almost cried. Between his man-to-man talks and breakfasts with Mr. Eric, his early adoration for Cheryl, Nick teaching him lots of boy things, Liz stealing him at any time possible and Becka always being there for him, it has truly been an awesome five years. Kindergarten will be great, but in no way will compare.

So thank you to the VanGorps for loving my baby boy. And no worries, Drew is on his way in 10 short weeks.
