Drew,
At nine months, you have four needs:
1. Food.
Lots and lots of food. You're picking up small pieces with your little fingers and getting (most) of them to your mouth. This greatly diappoints the dog, who would prefer you be a little more messy. He's usually perched right below your high chair just waiting for scraps that never seem to come.
You would eat all the time if I let you. ALL the time.
You already weigh in at 21 lbs. and chomp your food with your seven teeth.
2. Independence
After finding out how fun mobility can be, you zoom around the living room like it's no big deal. From rolling your brother's basketball to finding every speck of something on the carpet, life is one big adventure to you. Your stationary exersaucer just doesn't seem to have the same sparkle now that you can pull up on everything else.
3. Mom and Dad
After your travels in the living room, you get suddenly anxious. You NEED to be held. You'll see us across the room and cry while you crawl our way. As soon as you're picked up (spoiled baby), you stop crying. Instantly.
It's also the end of the world if one of us leaves the room. As soon as your dad walks upstairs, he is the most important thing in the world, even if you were just content to be held by mom or entertained by Miles twenty seconds earlier. Neither of us leaves a room without your watchful eye noticing (and the squeals beginning).
4. Medication
It seems like you're constantly sick or in pain. Poor baby.
Between cutting teeth and ear infections, it has been a month-long haze of antibiotics, more antibiotics because the first one didn't work, and alternating Tylenol, Motrin and teething tabs.
We love you Drew Craig. Can't believe you've been out in the world as long as you were in my tummy. Soon you'll be one!
